Directions:
Enter the Phoenix Zoo parking area and go to your left toward the red butte rock formations, the same direction as toward Gov. Hunt’s Tomb. The marker is on the left, on the south side of a flagpole and a building with restroom facilities.
Historical Significance:
This bronze plaque was placed on a stone in Papago Park, a two-city municipal park in Tempe and Phoenix, Arizona. It has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride. The plaque reads, “Dedicated to the Pioneer Spirit of Our Early Settlers / Erected 1941 Maricopa Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution” with DAR dignitaries’ names below.
